I'm not sure if I count as being anorexic...
But I just began taking Wellbutrin XL (150mg) for major depression, I am also taking Zoloft (100mg) for my anxiety.

I have read a lot of stuff about people with eating disorders who take Wellbutrin having seizures... so I was curious if anyone knew what exactly it is about the ED that causes this so I can avoid it?

I'm 5'6, 20yrs old, 98-106 lbs (103 current), my eating habits and weight vary; some times I will eat uncontrollably for a few days and follow up with not eating for 2-5 days. My psych doesn't know that, but she knows I'm a bit OCD on calorie restriction and am very unhappy with my body and she still prescribed it. Does that mean I'm ok?

If anyone can help me out I would really appreciate it, I'm excited to find that on only day 4 of the drug I am already feeling something I hadn't in a very long time: happy. So I really do not want to have to stop taking Wellbutrin.

Thanks! Very Happy

Eating disorders
If you are lying about your food and your need to control it, you have an eating disorder (not telling your psych is lying). If you are underweight you may be anorexic, or you may have one of the various forms of bulimia.

I don't know anything about Wellbutrin, but I do know that if you are messing around with an eating disorder, the possibility of seizures on Wellbutrin is the least of your problems. - Really, why take medication meant to help you, and then not be honest so you can get help? If you feel happier on the medication, then don't do anything that will have to cause you to stop taking it - you have a choice...Be honest, let the people who care about you help you!

the reason you shouldn't take wellbutrin if you have an eating disorder is b/c there's an increased risk of seizure. this is more related to bulimics than anorexics though. because bulimics often are dehydrated or have an electrolyte imbalance (from all the throwing up), they are more at risk than anorexics.
