I have had a bizarre and really irritating reaction on my lips from time to time that lasts for weeks to a little over a month. The area directly around my lips gets red and itchy, making them swell up a little but only makes them look like a very mild version of Angelina Jolie's lips.

A couple of days after this, the area on the outermost part of the lips gets very chapped and no matter how much chapstick I put on (I try to use the Blistex medicated, for cold sores and super chapped lips), it still feels extremely dry and like the skin on my lips is a little tight. It stays chapped and mildly itchy like this for weeks until it fades away, seemingly on its own.

I took some sort of allergy med, like zyrtec, thinking this will help make it go away a little faster, but it still doesn't go away in less than 2 weeks.

What does this sound like? I have no idea what it could be and it only started maybe two years ago. Does this sound like a beeswax allergy or any allergy? Any advice on what to do or how to find out? Anything would be appreciated. thank you.

hi I have the same problem.

I've been doing some research and it might be "cheilitis"
