Q: weight gain on depo shot

My firends have gained a lot of weight on the depo, they say they hardly ate anything to not gain n e more weight yet they still did. I really need this birth control method cuz im terrible at remembering to take the pill ( thats how i got pregnant with my daughter)after i gave birth i had the IUD,turns out my uterus shrunk too much and my body rejected it. I really cant afford 2 babies so i need 2 b care free 4 a while. Can anyone give me advice on how to not gain weight on the shot while im on it? id greatly appreciate it.
