I have not had my period for 4 months now and I am getting worried. There is no way that I can be pregnant. This happened to me over the summer as well. I skipped two months and then I got my period again late september, but since then I have not gotten my period. I moved early October and since then I have had a lot of anxiety and stress. Also, over the past couple of years I have had a steady weight gain. I have never had a problem with my period and have been regular for about 6 or 7 years. I have started exercising to lose weight and get into shape. In the last couple days I had some pain on the right side of my pelvis. It has since gone away. I was wondering what this could potentially be.

Hi,
Welcome to ehealthforum.
Irregular periods, along with weight gain, long gaps between periods in absence of sexual activity could suggest changes of ovarian cysts, PCOS, hormonal imbalances etc. Do not ignore your symptoms. You should consider visiting your doctor/gynecologist for thorough evaluation and further management. If PCOS or ovarian involvement/anovulation is found to be the cause, getting you started on insulin modifiers would help. Go ahead with getting thorough investigations done (hormonal and blood work-up along with ultrasound scan) to look for the current status of the problem as well as the exact underlying cause. Treatment as appropriate (based on examination findings and investigations results) would be started to help you. Be in regular monitoring and follow-up with your treating doctor/gynecologist and report any new/abnormal symptoms immediately. Drink plenty of water. Take adequate rest. Maintain healthy diet and lifestyle.
Take care.
