No I haven't had such an addiction but if i was really, really overweight I would consider doing it. I think it's a good option for people. However, if I was only a little overweight i wouldn't do it as I've heard stories of people dong it and they can hardly eat. i think it should be as a last resort if you have a health issue and it is going to better your overall health.

I know of people with complications and even 2 that have died because of complications after (1 a year later the other was within 6 months). I also know 1 person and heard of more that within 2-3 years have gained back the weight they lost the first year, because they didn't change the way they deal with their food addicition.

There is another answer. I would recommend you go to www.foodaddicts.org website and read about Food Addicts in Recovery (FA). If there are any FA meetings in your area, please attend a few to learn about the program and get a sponsor if you are interested in joining. If there are not any meetings in your area, call the FA office to see if you can get in on a phone meeting. FA is a non-profit 12-step program organization that does not charge fees, but is self-supporting, so members who can, donate $1-2 a meeting to keep it viable. I have been in FA for a little over 5 months and have lost over 50 pounds (I'm only about 5-10 pounds away from goal and haven't been this thin in over 35 years). I have seen and heard stories of people losing hundreds of pounds and keeping it off for years by working the program.

To me the truely amazing thing is that through this program God has taken away all my cravings, which has never happened with other diets.

I hope you will seek help with FA.

Michell...there are some people who have tried dieting and exercise to no avail. And Stacy seems to be one of those people. Stacy be sure to do some full research and make sure you understand the risks. Best of luck to you. I have seen three friends go through this procedure with fantastic results. And minimal side effects.
