27 weeks with period like cramps

im 27 weeks preg, the past mnth iv been getting horrible burning pains on my right side (side of belly button area) the midwives did nothing, it went away after awhile, then yesterday i out and i droped my keys i bent over to pick them up and thought someone stabbed me in the side, i could hardly walk to the car, i got in the car and sat for a while and it went away, then this morning it was hurting when i touched the area, and after that i started getting like period feelings, like the heavy cramp feeling, its hard to explain, and now my hips are acheing...
any ideas?

aches and pains are normal. as far as hips hurting, mine did as well. the doctor said it was just my body getting ready for delivery, hips widening. crampy feeling is probably ligaments stretching. that gives u a period like crampy feeling.

I had the same thing with my last pregnancy and couldn''t find any help or support either. I think the last reply was probably right with it just being ligaments stretching. I found mine was worse if I was dehydrated. It happened almost daily for several weeks for me. In the end I used it as a reminder to rest and also a chance to practice relaxation and breathing which helped during the actual labour. Good luck.
