hi , i had a period on the 9th January 2012 , and i missed my period that was due on the 6th feb, so its now been 7 weeks since the first day of my last period on the 9th jan 2012, i wiped after a wee and noticed blood very bright red , i very very mind cramping as well that comes and goes , my periods are regular only being a day later or day before due date , i,m 45 years old and not been pregnant since my daughter was born 24 years ago.
Could i be pregnant or could there be some thing else wrong , i have not dont pregnancy test yet, need advice first

If you have been sexually active without protection after last ovulation and if ovaries are functional, chances of pregnancy are possible. The changed period pattern, lighter bleeding and longer gap between periods could also suggest possible menopausal onset. Visit your doctor/gynecologist at the earliest for further evaluation. If pregnancy is suspected, go ahead with getting thorough examination (to confirm pregnancy related changes/signs in body) and blood/serum HCG level test (to confirm/rule out pregnancy accurately). If pregnancy gets ruled out, further evaluation would be done to look for the underlying cause for the symptoms that you describe. Treatment as appropriate (based on examination and investigations results) would be started to help you control your symptoms (and regulate periods). Consider being in regular monitoring and follow-up with your treating doctor/gynecologist and report any new/abnormal symptoms immediately. Drink plenty of water. Take adequate rest. Maintain healthy diet and lifestyle.
