Hi, I''ll be 31 weeks pregnant in a couple of days. This morning I ate a spoonful of deli macaroni salad that was prepared and bought yesterday (sell by date is day after tomorrow, so it is fresh).

I know not to eat any deli meats, but only thought to look up if macaroni salad was ok after eating the spoonful and reading in the ingredients that it had mayo, egg yolk and whole egg. I''m terrified b/c I saw many articles mentioning that deli salads containing mayo and eggs should not be eaten during pregnancy. Can someone please tell me how dangerous a spoonfull could be to the unborn babies for fear of listeria, ecoli or any other food poisoning, etc? Thanks!

Hello,
There is no scientific proof in the saying that eggs are not to be consumed during pregnancy. Infact pregnancy requires increased proteins and eggs are very rich sources of proteins. However you should consume everything fresh.

If you notice any vomitings or diarrhea then evaluation from a doctor is required. Otherwise there is nothing to worry.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
