Q: 5 weeks along and possible miscarriage

I am 20 years old and I am close to 5 weeks along. Yesterday I started bleeding a little. Today it is a little more but still not a lot, and now I have light cramps. I have been doing a lot of reading and I know there is a possibility of it just being spotting. When I went to see the doctor to confirm the pregnancy they told me I was at a high risk for a miscarriage to begin with because of stress, size, and family history. But anyways I was just wondering when I should go see my doctor. Should I wait to see if I pass any tissue or anything like that? If I was to pass any how much would there be if I'm only 5weeks. What could the doctor do now anyways beside tell me to just wait and see. Any help would be appreciated.

you should call your doctor and see what they suggest. there isn't much to see on an ultrasound until about 6 weeks, so they'd probably make you wait for that. for now they could check the level of hormones in your blood and then have you come back in a couple days to make sure it's rising properly.

spotting or light bleeding early on seems to be fairly common, so don't think the worst just yet.

good luck!

its possible but don't jump the gun on thinking it being a miscarriage, you may have to call your dr and have a scan done to see if they can see anything in the sac. Its really early and they barely saw my bean when it was 5w6d but it doesnt hurt to look

i would go to the doctor right away. i have heard that they can stop a miscarriage from happening if there are early symptoms. I recently had a miscarriage ( or at least i think i did) and mine came fast an all at once. if yours is slow and no tissue or clots, id seek medical help to be sure. take another pregnancy test to see what it says.
