I'm a new mom and my 2 week old girl is always crying in th evenings and when I try and feed her she screams and doesn't take her bottle or my breast. I feel like all I can do is comfort her right now. Crying or Very sad she is also very gassy. she does have a poopy diaper a couple times a day but sometimes she doesn't have one at all. and when I notice her trying to go she looks like she is struggling. please does anyone have any suggestions?

The first few weeks is when their body starts adjusting to eating and pooping. The gas could have a lot to do with it. It is uncomfortable and, honestly, so it pooping.

Evenings can be the worst time, although I wouldn't think colic quite this early. That usually comes in a few months. Evening times, when everyone is home and other things need to be done (dinner, etc) seem to be the most active times for a baby to be cranky. It is hard.

While I cannot be of much help, I'm sorry, I will say that you'll need to find your own way with your daughter that the two of you feel comfortable with. Some babies like their tummies rubbed. Some need a little help with the poo by cycling their legs like they are riding a bike. Some like to be held or rocked. Swaddling is always good in the first weeks so they feel supported and comforted. A sling maybe? A plan that during her usual time of day when she gets fussy you two will have some alone time to just rock and listen to some soothing music?

It does get better, I promise you that. Those early months, getting used to each other are hard - but you'll all get through it and things will get better.

Good luck!!

Hi Sweetie! Me Fairy*Godmother
Been along time.....almost 25 years ago this year, but my daughter did the exact same thing. I had to go from breast feeding to formula, switching to different formulas several rounds. Babies do not come with instructions. I would suggest calling your daughters physican ASAP. The one thing you do not need is for her to become dehydrated. Also, having a problem trying to go, after having the runs a couple of times..... The crying and being gassy could very well be she is not tolerating the formula. Bless her little heart...........please keep us posted! Hope you find something out soon!
