I am 21 and have been on birth control pills for about 4 years. I've never missed a period on the pill. Now I am about a week or so late. I have hypothyroidism and I take levothyroxine for it. I was out of levothyroxine for about 5 days and around the time I was taking my inactive birth control pills. I was wondering if this type of hormonal imbalance could cause a delayed or missed period.
I've recently been very tired, my stomach has hurt a lot, I feel gasy, and I'm bloated. I know some of these could be symtoms of pregnancy but some could be from stress or a possible oncoming period. I know I need to take a pregnancy test but I'd like to have some comfort before I take one.

Thanks

If you've been taking your pills correctly then that's plenty of comfort.

I know levothyroxine can affect menstruation, and though i don't really know much about it, I would say its possible it could cause a delay. You may want to speak with your pharmacist or doctor to be sure.

Take a pregnancy test just in case, but you're probably good if you've been taking your pills correctly.

that makes me feel a little better. i do take my pills regularly and generally around the same time (within the same hour each night.) i've been driving myself crazy over this. i'm not sure if i'm tired or just depressed and sleeping all the time. ugh, either way it's annoying!
thanks for some peace of mind
