Q: wax on head after sunburn

Hi!
First i just want to say thank you to anyone reading this, who may or may not be able to help me.
A few days ago, my roommates and i ventured to the beach. i had shaved my head a few days before, and my scalp is severely sunburned. Today i woke up, and my head was covered with wax. I took a shower, and scraped most of it off, but it looks like the wax production is a continual process. Are there any skin experts who recognize this? Besides being sunburned, it doesn't feel unusually painful. I just kind of weirded out. The attached pic was taken about 6 hours after having taken a shower, and scraped, peeled, and or washed off the wax that was there when i woke up. (My wax is very oily)
Again thank you, i really appreciate any input here.
