Q: Warm sensation in left knee

Hello.

For the past 2-3 days, I have been experiencing an intermittent warm sensation in my left knee. There is no physical change to joint - no swelling, no redness, no discoloration of any kind. The knee joint itself does not feel warm to the the touch; the warm feeling is the signal my brain is receiving from the knee. It usually passes within a minute or so, but then may recur anywhere from 2-3 minutes to several hours later. There is no pain involved, and it does not appear to be related to activity or positioning - it can occur when I am walking, sitting, or standing.

Possibly relevant health factors for me include:

1. I have never been diagnosed with gout, any type of arthritis, or diabetes, nor do I have any major health issues.
2. I am on a longterm Doryx (doxycycline) treatment for acne.
3. I also take simvastatin, dexedrine, and several topical medications for acne - none are applied anywhere near my knee.

I would guess I have experienced this symptom roughly 20-30 times over the past 2-3 days.

I am wondering if I should see a doctor about this condition.

Thank you.

resolved?
This problem seems to have resolved itself - apparently, all it needed was a weekend of watching the kids, doing housework, and 7 loads of laundry = I didn't rest the knee or treat it.

I haven't experienced the warm sensation in at least 36 hours...

I have been having the same
Hi there,

I have been having the same warm sensation going down my right leg. It goes from the knee to the foot, all along the front left side (almost along the inner of the leg).
The leg looks normal, and feels normal, no redness or swelling and it is not warmer than the other leg when i touch it.
I have been reading on the internet and many people have this. I don´t know if they are moslty women, and don´t know the ages. I am female , 48 years young!!! Smile
I am thinking it may be related to hormonal changes... or maybe sciatica, which I suffer from time to time...
