After I got sick with a disease that had a symptom of anorexia, I lost 10 pounds. I weighed 140 pounds bfore and I'm 5'5 so being 130 pounds wasn't bony looking or unhealthy. Anyways, I was very pleased with my new body and could eat whatever I wanted because after a while of being sick my body didn't gain weight. After 2 weeks of eating daily milkshake and junk food I realized my thighs getting closer together and my skinny jeans becoming tighter and got pretty freaked out about it. So I went on weight watchers. I ate my full 20 points a day for a week and noticed that the skinny jeans were fitting again. Then I reduced the points to 15 and some days 10. I guess my body nor mind could handle the deprivation and one night I completely raided the kitchen until i was sick. I'd heard about bullenia. I'd told myself I'd never be one of those people but I purged. I guess I didn't want to think about how wrong it was and I was physically in pain after having eaten so much. It seemed like the perfect solution although not perfect in it's twisted, damaging way. I knew it was wrong, but i continued my dieating and binged and purged 7 more time in 2 months. Now I've done it 3 times in the last week and a half and have binged until sickeven more. My mom is going through a divorce but this should be a good thing since my stepfather is abusive. I do worry about her and my little brother though. Also I'm just an anxious person anyways and all the guilt assoisiated with dieting and purging does not help with my binging. I have gained all my weight back (140) and have decided something needs to change. I want to stop OBSESSING about food (first thing I think about in the morning is my diet, what I'm going to eat and if I'll fail by binging). I fear food. It has become an obsession due to my anxiety. So I've decided to stop all dieting. And eat what I want until I'm full. Another condition is drink lots of water, I might gain weight but my main goal is to stop feeling deprived and obsessed. I wanted to ask if your thought this was the best first step. I'm pretty sure it is I just wanted to know how poeple with my disorder are retaught to think about food. I'm seeing a psychologist this week but is their anything else I can do before then? Thank you. Sorry this was so long. :]

good for you
it's so great you're seeing somebody. and don't get discouraged with therapy. sometimes it takes a lot of hunting to find the right therapist/counselor. i've just now found a really good one, and it's been five years since i started seeing someone for depression/anxiety/eating problems

i've never purged. i've binged for years, and purged through overexercising. though the binging won out during college. (also important to consider sugar addiction if you have a real problem with sweets) there are many different reasons we do this. i wish i could give you more reassurance, but you're going to be fine. you've taken the first step.

letting yourself eat what you want when you want is the most healing thing you can do!!! It's so wonderful! drop the battle with food. Read anything by Geneen Roth. "When Food is Love," i don't read self-help, but i read two of her books in one sitting each. couldn't put them down. it should speak to you and perhaps give some perspective on your own reasons for binging/purging.
good luck! keep faith in yourself. oh, and the biggest realization is that there is nothing "wrong with you." you have the power to overcome your challenges. we all have a devil riding our back.
