I am pregnant. My LMP(first day of last menstruation) was on April 16th. The EDD should be near the 23rd of January next year. I did my ultrasonography test on July 2nd and the report said I am 10 weeks, 1 day and the EDD, according to the test is the 27th of January. Do you think the ultrasonography report is physical and dependable? This is my first pregnancy so I'm really afraid and want to know which EDD is more accurate, the 23rd of January or the 27th of January. Please write soon. Thank you.

Labor and Delivery Answer A26237
Hello,

Welcome to the ehealthforum and I am really glad to help you out. Your concern is regarding the expected date of delivery. Ultrasounds performed during the first 12 weeks of pregnancy are generally within 3 - 5 days of accuracy. The most accurate time is between 8 and 11 weeks gestation.

We consider the built-in error for the ultrasound date as only ± 5 days and its is 4 days in your case. The ultrasound date is considered more accurate that the expected date of delivery from the last menstrual period date.

It is very difficult to precisely confirm a diagnosis without examination and investigations and the answer is based on the medical information provided. For exact diagnosis, you are requested to consult your doctor. I sincerely hope that helps. Take care.
