Q: Waking up with migraines

My husband's had migraines for years & is an avid Imitrex user. Like many, he works very long hours in a highly stressful job, doesn't sleep sound, a big coffee drinker, teeth grinder, TMJ sufferer, etc.....you catch my drift. About a year ago, he had a root canal & since then, with random though lately more frequent occurrences, when he sleeps on the side of his face where he had this tooth procedure, he can be woken up in the middle of sleep or first thing in the morning with a migraine. Could there be a connection between the two? According to his dentist, there could be a crack in the tooth where the root canal was performed & needs some additional work done, however, when he brought up this occurrence with him, he didn't see the connection. Is this dentist off in his calculation? Is it then muscular? TMJ related? Or what? He's fearful & anxious as to what's going on with him & the idea of an MRI feels to him like a death sentence. Can someone out there shed some light?

Waking up with migraines
He smokes occasionally. Would this play a huge role?
