Q: Waking and gasping for air
asked by: DoctorQuestion on August 17th, 2009
This is hard to explain but i`ll try.

Every night i go to sleep i get the usual 4-8hrs, eat properly, and also take a anti-dep called Dosulepin.

Now every so often when coming around to wake up after probably deep sleep i wake up suddenyl and gasp for air as though ive been suffocated, and before hand, i hear a pop like the way a screaming rocket goes off (firework), like a small whistle then a pop or snapping sound.

Now this seems very stange to me, but recently it has been happening more, and at the same time my anxiety has increased due to other reasons.

When i think about it all i can think is that, lol, brain cells are exploding.

Sometimes this can happen just before i go into deeper sleep, "i can tell the threshold between slightly falling to sleep until deep sleep kicks in.

All i want is an answer to this and ive not ask my doctor yet just in case he/she might think im a bit mad. I think this because i cant prove it :( Any help would be appreciated.
