Q: wait time before period

I am currently taking ortho cyclen and have been very happy with it. My concern is this. there is a 2-3 day wait period before the hormones flush out of my system and my menstruation begins ie. I take my last pill Saturday, period does not begin until Wednesday) My doctor told me this is normal. Initially this freaked me out (on more then a few occasions I bought a pregnancy test only to have my period begin before I used it or shortly after).

Am I safe to have otherwise unprotected sex during these few days? I would by condoms to use during this time, however I am allergic to both latex and standard lubricant.

Thanks for your advice

Yeah, you are protected during your period week as long s you've been taking your pills correctly.

I always got my period on Tuesday-Wednesday, it's normal.
