Bad breath can often be the first sign of a disease. But how do doctors define bad breath and what are the major causes of bad breath?...

Q: wait or root canal ?

My #4 tooth [upper right side] split in May and the dentist temporarily glued a crown on it because the nerve was very sensitive.

4-5 months later it is still sensitive to when I bite on harder things, and in order to get the crown glued on permanently, I was told that my options are to either live with the sensitivity or have a root canal performed first.

What is your opinion? Should I wait many more months, hoping for the nerve to settle down, or do you think it will never get back to "normal" and I should have a root canal done if I don't want to live with the sensitivity? I'd be fine waiting for however long it takes in order to save the root.

Thanks for your advice!

If you're able to live with the sensitivity, that I'd suggest that you try to wait.

thanks,

do you think the nerve will calm down completely if I wait long enough?

I do doubt that. IT seems to me that if the nerve is exposed, it will consistently cuase you trouble. But you can certainly try to prove me wrong! Let us know how it goes.
