I suffer from Von Williebrands disease. I found this out when I got my first period, of which lasted for 3months without stopping until I was put on the combined pill. I have been on the pill for 6yrs, and whenever I try to go off of it, my period comes back, and doesn\\\'t stop. I do eventually want to have kids, but due to my non-stop period, am I able to ever get pregnant (naturally) because of this?

Hi, and thanks for your medical question on eHealth forum!

If you have Von Williebrands disease there is usually no problem in conceiving. You can go for pills to decrease the bleeding without stopping ovulation. However, you will need to be monitored very carefully both during pregnancy and after delivery.

There are drugs and platelet transfusions to stop heavy menstrual flow. Pregnancy will have to be planned in consultation with a hematologist and gynecologist. Hope this helps. Take care!
