Hi Dr.,

My name is Aaron and i'm 19 years old. I am an occasional drinker. Recently, I had a particularly heavy night of drinking. The next morning, I got up fine. But soon, i started vomitting blood (coffee ground colour). After a few hours, i started vomitting bright red blood as well. I am ok now. But this whole episode just seemed mysterious to me, because i have never experienced it before. Is it due to gastrointestinal damage? Is the damage minimal or is it long-term? I am laying off alchohol for at least 2 months after this episode.

Thanks Doc.

I'm sure you know that it's not normal to throw up blood. The alcohol is obviously irritating something in your intestines. If I were you I would stay away from alcohol for more than 2 months.
