ive got a viral infection which has cased me to lose me voice, my throat feels like its burning and its hard to swollow. ive taken 2days off work telling them i have an viral infection and there not really understanding.

so my questions are
is a viral infection contagious?
do i need to take time off work if so how long

I do beleive it is as viral is a virus and viruses are contagious...

Your doctor should be able to tell you how long you should stay out of work. Generally it is a few days or until you feel somewhat better...like when you are no longer have a fever. Fever is when you are considered contagious.

Note that antibiotics are zero percent effective with viral infections, only bacterial.

For now you need to treat your symptoms...like throat spray for your sore throat and aspirin (as long as you are over 12) for a fever and of course rest.
