My mother been experienceing mini strokes for 4 years prior to a heart attack which resulted in by-pass surgery in Oct 2008. She then experienced 2 significant strokes in Sept 2009. She was found unconsiouse following her first stroke and suffered a second stroke in the emergency room. She has lost use of her right-side, speech problems etc. We moved her to a nursing home that offers Physical and Speech therapy. Her speech is actually worse now than it was in December. I am no longer able to understand anything she is saying. She also started to shout and scream and lash out at people which is geting more often? We are not sure what is going on? I have been reading online about the change that can occur such as violent outburst? Is this what we are dealing with This week has been particularly bad, it is so hard to visit her when she just yells and screams at you and she has done so every day for the last week. We had actually discussed not seeing her for a few days to see if it would help calm her? Any advise?

Extremely eHealthy
Even a single stroke can induce dementia and its characteristics are personality changes such as loss of insight, loss of empathy for others, poor self-care, emotional explosiveness, and impulsiveness.
