hi,

i am 27 yrs old, recently married, sexually active for ~10 months, birth control for 1 yr ...

my last period was almost tramautizing ... very heavy, started a week early (even though I was regular with my pill), it lasted 12 days (mine usually last 4-5) and I passed an alarming amount of clots within a couple of days (to the point where they would overflow my pad) .... now I am having a lot of tan colored mucousy discharge .... Has anyone experienced anything similar?

I have been regular since I was 14 ... so this is very odd to me and somewhat frightening ... is this normal or should I get in to see my OBGYN asap?

thanks!

According to your description you probably have menorrhagia (prolonged and heavy menstruation).
Why do you take contraceptive pills? For contraception or for regulating the periods?

Heavy period with clots
I have been having heavy periods with giant clots golf ball size ever since the birth of my 3rd child. It is not normal. I have seen 3 OB/GYN
and have been dealing with this heavy bleeding getting worse for the last year. I would recommend you see a seasoned female OB/GYN
It turns out that I have polyups that up until now have just looked like a thickened uterus lining. So far all of the biopsys have come back fine. Don't mess around with this you may end up having a hysterectomy. I'm up for a D and C to see if it helps.
