I have been running my own business for 12 years, A public house. I have not had a acholic drink for the last 10 years. I sold my business Novenber 2008.
My question is that the last 18 months or so I have been very angry, anger that I have not known before or as bad as this. now that I am not in the pub game or even working, I do not seem to be able to get happy never smile, not motivated but not unhappy inside. I am living at the moment in Asia.
Am I depressed or what.
I suffer from IBS, Blood Pressure, Joint pain.
I have in the past taken anti depression medication but it does not work.
My child hood was bad being abused as far as I can remember.
Ilook forward in some understanding with my problem.

Kind Regards

TM Carter

Sounds like you may be depressed. Have you talked to a psychologist about this? There are also several types of anti-depressants, so if one doesn't work, another might. I know it sounds dismissive, but research has shown that regular aerobic exercise can have very similar effects to anti-depressants. That may make you feel better. Also remember that anti-depressants take at least two weeks to fully work (they don't really know why).

In addition, have you had a full physical in the last 18 months with blood tests and everything? Some medical conditions can cause depression symptoms, along with symptoms of your other conditions. Make sure your thyroid hormones have been tested.

Don't give up on finding the answer. I hope you find it soon and start to feel better.
