okay, this might be a really odd story but i need someone else's opinion fast! im scared and i dont know what to tell my dad because he's a single father and he never knows how to handle these womenly issues.

mmk, i got my period when i was about 12 years old...it was regular and normal. then i started gaining quite a bit of weight when i was about 14 or so and my period completely stopped. my dad freaked out and thought i was pregnant so he took me to the doctors and have it checked out. the doctors said it was my obesity that stopped my period or something like that, then they prescribed me some medicine that would make my period come. it was bad because it made the heaviest flow ever!

there wasn't a refill on the prescription and it only had 10 pills. i took them for about 2 weeks and that was it. i didn't go back to the doctors because i got scared. then for 3 years i didn't have a period and i just assumed it was because im obese.

but the strange thing is, this late winter around january i believe...my period came back all of a sudden. for 3 years no period and now it comes back again. and the worst part of it all is that my periods are way too heavy, i go through so many napkins and tampons each hour. and it always comes with a disgustingly abnormal sized blood clot.

i really regret not getting this checked out when i was 14 but does any one know what the heck happened here? i'm so scared and i don't understand how all of a sudden my period came back. i mean, i'm glad it did after 3 years but it doesnt make sense why it's so heavy and why there are so many clots. help?!

I think you should speak with a gynecologist again. I can't really be sure, but it's not normal to miss your period for so long and it is weird that it came back so heavy. There could be an issue with your thyroid.

Your gyno will be able to help you with this more-- it's better to know what's caused the change for sure and see if there's a way to help.

Maddie is so right. You should schedule an appt asap. This can be dangerous. Did you recently lose weight? If it was a problem when you were obsese and it stopped then when it came back on it could've been from weight loss. Lossing at least 10% could bring your period back on. This could very well be PCOS. I couldn't let my period go off for 3 months let alone 3 years!

i dont think i've lost weight in the last three years. i'm a lot taller now and bigger, i'm really concerned and i'm going to see the gyno very soon.
my mom had surgery this year to remove her uterus because of a tumor...now im freaking out because i think i might have one too.

but thank you so much for the help! im going to see what's going on with my body.
