for a few days now I've been hearing a strange noise.. it sounds almost like a muffled maraca in my head just shaking twice in a row like "fshunk-fshunk" and then everything around me moves to the left really fast. I either move with it or against it, and end up tipping over. I feel as though this is vertigo, but nothing about the strange noise is listed anywhere. It's almost the same sort of... noise as a ringing in your ear.. like it's coming from the same place as that, but it's definitely a maraca-ish sound.. it's hard to describe.. I was just wondering if that was vertigo..

I don't know if it is or not, but you might want to get your ears checked by an ENT, especially since it's been more than just a few days now. I will copy this topic over to the Ears, nose and throat disorders and maybe someone else can clue you in a little better.

You are not alone
I can't say what it is but I often get the same noise plus pressure during the noise for days at a time and then it is gone. I do not have the vertigo issue however. Have you figured out what this is?
