Hello,

Just over 2 weeks ago I started to get very dizzy (more vertigo then dizzyness)and it wouldnt just come and go it was all day. I went and saw a doctor who assumed it was an inner ear infection which was causing the vertigo and he prescribed Stemzine after 2 days on that I had to go back to the GP as this medication was making me extremely drowzy to the point I couldnt do much at all. The GP then prescribed me with Serc which didnt cause any drowziness. After 5 days of taking this I was 80% better so I continued on this until my course of Serc was completed (7 days later). 2 to 3 days after the Serc was finished the vertigo started again so I went back to my GP she said if it was an inner ear infection it should have cleared up by now so has referred me to see a ear surgeon in 7 days time and in the mean time has given me more Serc.

I would like a second opinion or any comments or thoughts???

No worries
Nothing to worry about. I had my very first vertigo and dizziness episode several years ago due to a middle ear infection (according to the doctors.) Bad news and good news. The bad news was that mine lasted for 6 months, the good news is that it's not permanent. I actually panicked thinking that I was going to feel that way for the rest of my life.

There was no cure. I just had to wait it out the whole time. The most plausible explanation was stress as it happened coincidentally the same time I was moving away from home and to university. I had two more episodes since then, both lasted for a month and just before stressful events. It's just one of those unexplainable parts of the human body.

thanks
Thanks for your comments, I am hoping it doesnt last as long as your episodes did but its good to know that it will go away... were you on any medication to help with it whilst you had it? I am on Serc it seems to help quite alot but I hate the thought of having to be on a medication for that long. But if I'm not I cant function properly during the day.
Its funny you mention stress as I have been stressed out with wedding planning, moving away for work etc etc.
It will be interesting to see what the Ear Surgeon says in a few days when I see him.

I can't remember the name. I was given very small yellow tablets that made me really drowsy. After a few days I'd just abandoned them. Ironically the tablets made me feel worse and less productive.

Sounds to me like it's another case of stress related disorder Smile
