Q: Vertebral subluxation complex

since 11/06 i have had such severe upper spine pain that goes thru to my chest..i have always been healthy up till 11/06 (right before my 40th birthday) i have had so many tests, endoscopy, colonoscopy, barium test, esophogram, even cardiac catherization!!!! had blood of course taken and a few times my ANA was not good. been to two different rheumatologists and have ruled out RA...I do get stabbing pain between my shoulder blades and if you just even touch my spine, the bone hurts. feels like i bruised it, but never hurt it or banged it. my dr. is at a stump too....he now has me on zoloft to 'recreate' the seratonin??? i have been to so many different types of drs and i get nothing...some say kyphosis, some say do PT which i did for over a year....i am at my wits end!!!! please help!!!! would love to hear your opinion....thank you thank you...just want to get my life back!

The pain you are describing is termed "allodynia" and means "a painful response to a non-painful stimulus"


Usually when allodynia is felt on the spine it is due to the "vertebral subluxation complex". Basically, the VSC comes about when the joints of the vertebrae become stuck and are not moving properly for whatever reason. The body creates inflammation in the area to kind of put the vertebra back in place.


It is recommended that you consult with a chiropractor to see if this is something that can be helped through physical medicine/modalities like chiropractic treatment. Good Luck
