From my short research, I came up with these articles and an understanding that vegetarianism can clinically help anything from cancer to fibromylagia to skin disorders...

i am 37 and i was a veg since i was 7 and i can tell you it messed me up badly . my teeth are bad and soft my skin is clear and seemingly perfect but terribly vitamin lacking nails and hair suffered vitamin deficient and anemic. my bones are so brittle i had to have 4 spinal surgeries when i hit 30 (had a injury at 9) had i ate healthier i would be in a different boat . the body needs meat and eggs and milk dont fool yourself into thinking otherwise im living proof and i did eat all veg and fruit. anf supplements . its no substitute for the real thing , think twice .

I agree with bamagirl1, my family were veg most of my life & i'm 44 with cfs & thyroid issues, some of the veg savoury foods are real killers especially if you have issues like ceoliac disease etc. we were designed for a predominately herbal diet but some of the minerals that were originally in those foods dont always find there way to our systems due to depleated soils or processing of foods, even something as simple as fruit harvesting prior to being ripe can cause different imbalances. The best thing to remember is variety of foods & plenty of raw veg & to eat a more alkalizing diet. If our going to go veg study the nutrients you need specific to you & study what nutrients are in the food you eat, also the way nutrients co-exist. ithyroid.com is a good site to educate about this as it gives guidance to the dangers of being out of balance.

yes i have thyroid diseas im anemic and the dr said in all his carrer never seen anyone with a vit. d so low it doesent register. low zink well everything you really need to study the long term affects of this lifestyle. dont do it just because your sad for the animal. an yes im a deep animal lover woeked in vets and humane societys since i was 12. so im not saying that but the body needs the things that only meats and milk and such can give sometimes substitutes just dont do the same job as ther real thing. so study alot

Hey Bamagirl1
My friend Abbey is recoverring from Vegetarianism over 20 years because of health issues. She had a lot of trouble with red meat. Early on she couldn't even keep it down. Chicken is great but didn't offer much variety considderring how much had been put into her diet. She found that Fish was really helpful. She stared out with white flesh like Sole and Cod and transitioned into fish with richer meat. She still has difficulty digesting red meat but her body can handle it better.
Good luck.
