I have now had herpes for atleast 5 years. Whenever I get an outbreak, I take the valtrex for five days. This time, It isn't working and I've never had this issue. I am 10 weeks pregnant with my first child. I am really confused as to why the meds aren't working!!! I need answers as soon as possible. It's really to the point where it's making me very depressed. Thanks ahead of time for the help.

Valtrex -- not effective during pregnancy?
It is my understanding that Herpes symptoms can be significantly worse during pregnancy. It maybe due to the level of Hormone activity going on. Valtrex may not be able to help during this time. This may not be much comfort, but at least this problem is likely only temporary.

i am 27 weeks pregnant and its not working for me anymore either i am scared i'll have to get a c-section i have had three outbreaks so far since ive been pregnant and now it spread to my mouth so please be careful!! stay away from vitamin d because that made it worse for me and read more on lysine it is safe for baby and as you get closer to your due date you may want to talk to someone about takign the lysine for a preventino of an outbreak because lysin works for me but you can get immune to it. i plan to take 500mg of lysine four times a day starting at 37 weeks in hope i will not have an outbreak so i can give birth the way i am suppose to. good luck to both of us!!
