Q: Vaginal itching and Depo-provera
asked by: DoctorQuestion on August 4th, 2008
I have been on the Depo- Provera shot for about a month or so, my doctor told me its tricking my body into thinking i'm going through menopause so it stops my periords and everything (i'm sure you already know this) but.. is this the reason for my dry, and itchy vagina? I don't have any unusual discharge or foul odor, it just itches! please help..

Current medical status: dry, itchy vagina.
Current medical treatment: i haven't had any office visits, i dont want to worry too much if it's just a side affect.

Vaginal itching could be a side effect from the depo-provera shot but other conditions like vaginal/vulvae infection or allergic reactions can also cause vaginal itching.

You may want to consult a gynecologist about this.
