Vaginal discharge cause ? Posted: 04-17-08 13:30pm
I after sex last week I got a think, clear
snot like discharge, which I hear is
normal. But this was sore and itchy
(granted my man is a little big for me, so
there may have been some damage).
I douched and felt a little relief but
then we had sex again and it got worse. I
douched again and the discharged changed.
It seemed like it had a little yeast in it
(there was some milky white with clumps,
but not much compared to other times).
Since it was slight, I got a one day over
the counter treatment, but I'm still itchy
(two days later). I am also taking Azo
Yeast (a natural yeast remedy and
prevention pill), which I have never taken
before.
This has been a rather chronic problem for
me. I used to think it was a reaction to
condoms, but I got told I wasn't allergic
to latex. But I am less likely to get it
if I don't use a latex condom. That said,
I have also gotten it during times when I
wasn't sexually active. It is possible
that it's related to how much sugar I have
in my diet, but I'm not diabetic. I don't
have HIV.
In the past, Doctors have told me that
it's not yeast. They say it's a normal
discharge or vaginosis. But if it's
normal why is it itching and burning? And
if it's vaginosis why doesn't it go away
with douching? What's going on? Please
help.

DO NOt ever use douches. They make things
even worse than they are. You might be
sensitive to the lube on the condom. I get
very itchy if i use a condom with lube.
You can try lube free condoms. Hope this
helps you.

It sounds like your vagina is hurting!!
Don't use douches, like xbostonx said.
They throw off your natural balance and
will cause things like yeast infections,
or worsen bacterial infections.
Are you using lube at all? If not, try it.
If you are, try using a really plain,
water based (no frills) lube and see if
that helps. It sounds like you are getting
irritated from sex.
My tips for a healthy vagina:
Don't douche
Pee after you have sex and dry yourself
off well (but don't douche or anything)
Wash every morning with gentle soap (your
labia, NOT inside your vagina)
Wear cotton underwear
Don't wear tight jeans
LUBE!!! Don't let ANYTHING in there
without being well lubricated.
If you are using products (like soap or
lube) try changing them to "sensitive"
products
If all else fails, latex-free condoms
Don't take Azo yeast unless a doctor
suggests it
There should always be a normal healthy
amount of yeast and bacteria living in
there. If you mess around, the balance
gets messed up. kill the yeast and you'll
get a bacterial infection, kill the
bacteria (with soap) and you'll get a
yeast infection. Best to just let it be.
Treat your vagina gently and let it
naturally keep itself healthy.
Itching and burning is not normal,
however, if you get irritated from sex
(from not being well lubricated) it's very
normal. Or if you are allergic to
something you're using (or he is using)
hope that helps

Ugh. Yeah. I started using Avo Yeast and
I think it made things worse. I already
don't wear tight clothing and only wear
cotton underwear and pants. I usually pee
after sex but think I forgot the last time
(and I do seem to have a UTI now as well).
I used ot have a problem with the lube on
Trojan condoms so I switched to Durex.
I've been better with those, but still not
great . . . and we did have a drying out
problem on the third round. I don't have
health ins or a Dr. as I just moved 3000
miles, but I found a free clinic and have
an appointment on Monday. Both for this
and to talk about birth control options
that may not bother me. Thanks for all
your input!

Good luck, and good for going to see the
doc!
I get pretty dry during sex, I use KY lube
(just the basic kind) and I love it, in
case you're shopping around. I find I have
the best luck if I don't use lubricated
condoms and I use lube instead, because
then I can re-apply if it starts to dry
out and control how much there is.
