I shaved my pubic area once and at the time I didn’t realize how bad I was cutting myself I didn’t feel any pain at the time but the next day when I had sex I experienced extreme burning and pain and I continue to this day feel that pain after 2 years. I went to the doctor and they gave me some kind cream for infection but it didn’t work and I tried the yeast infection cream but that didn’t work either. I see cuts everywhere some on the inside of the vagina wall some on the outside. I think it is continuing to happen because I cut too deep and I am too embarrassed to go see a doctor. Help me please!!!!

Small, painful tears on your vaginal walls near the vaginal opening and outside at the vaginal labia, are known as vaginal fissures.
Practicing a genital shaving isn't a cause for these small vaginal tears.
Their appearance is most likely due to thin and dry vaginal skin.
If you have noticed that they are usually present around your period, the cause is probably the normal drop of estrogen levels which makes the vaginal skin dry, thin and easily damaged. Your estrogen levels could be lower than normal (check your estrogen level with test).
When there is some other accompanying symptom, like vaginal discharge, the cuts can be a side effect of current vaginal infection.
Yeast infection is one of the most common infection, that is predisposing factor for developing vaginal cuts.
Sometimes, it takes longer treatment and stronger antifungal medicine to get rid from the yeast infection.
Another cause for vaginal fissures, is lack of proper lubrication during a sexual intercourse.

Visit your gyn to find out the real reason for frequent and recurrent vaginal cuts!
Best wishes!
