If the symptoms have been persistent only during her periods ad if have been present in her last 2-3 cycles, then she should visit her doctor/gynecologist at the earliest for further evaluation and assistance. Vaginal swab/smear test and PAP smear test done will help to identify the underlying cause. Treatment as appropriate (based on examination findings and investigations results) would be started to help her control her symptoms. If infective cause is detected, you should also consider getting treated simultaneously to prevent chances of re-infection. Avoid having intercourse during the treatment course. She should avoid vaginal douching, use of harsh soap or perfumes in the area. She should use loose cotton undergarments and avoid use of tight fitting clothes. She should avoid tea, caffeine or carbonated beverage intake.
