Without a direct physical examination, it is not possible to give a direct diagnosis of the “big red bump near the vaginal area” (how big?). However, the speculation is that it might be a cyst or an inflammation/infection of the Bartholini’s glands (bartholinitis). It might be wise to have it checked with your family doctor/gynecologist, who will find out the true cause and treat it, accordingly (if necessary).

It might sound a little strange, but various girls/women happen to confuse their differently-sized labia minora (small vaginal lips) with “red bumps”, although this is quite normal in women.
