Vagina extremely irritated

My vagina has been giving me trouble for a while now. My doctor told me it was dermatitis, but I don't think so. The creme she gave me isn't helping. It's actually making things worse. The outter and inner lips are red and swollen. Trust me I've checked everyday for the past two moths and there are no blisters, sores, irregular bump of any kind. It's not too itchy, just feels like I'm really raw. I thought it was a yeast infection b/c I had a little white thick discharge, but I've been using the monistat for two days now with no change really. Also, I knew the birth control I was on causes vaginal irritation, but I've been on another kind for about a month now and no changes. Someone please help me, I'm scared and don't have the money to go to a doctor.
