Q: Using Cytotec and a missed period
asked by: DoctorQuestion on August 19th, 2008
I had a missed period. My last period was July 12 and now it's already August 19, 2008 and my memses haven't returned yet. I took 5 pregnancy tests and it all came out negative. My nurse friend advised me to take Provera 3xa day for 5 days and I am still waiting for my period. My question is, what is the percentage of a possible pregnancy? when will I take the test again to know if I am positively pregnant? and if I am pregnant, can I use cytotec? I am working out of my country and I can't get pregnant due to my working contract. Thank you so much for your reply. God Bless

Medical Abortion Answer A4581
Diagnosis that has been suggested: Candida infection and mild Urinary Tract Infection
Current medical status: Urinalysis
Current medical treatment: Drank Bactrim caps 3 days 3x a day

After 5 negative pregnancy tests the possibility for being pregnant is zero.

A missed period is the first serious sign of pregnancy but not always. Pregnancy is always manifested with a missed period but a missed period doesn't always mean that there is a pregnancy. There are many other conditions, beside the pregnancy, that can also cause a missed period.

Cytotec can be used for medical abortions but only under a doctor's supervision. Using Cytotec for provoking an abortion without a doctor's permission and supervision is dangerous and illegal.
