what are the symptoms when someone injures the bile duct ?

My mom has this on her hands, feet, legs, and now it's starting to appear on her trunk. everything I've read says it goes away on it's own, but this isn't the case here and it's spreading. It's been going on for a couple years and she'd like to get rid of it. She's tried the creams from the doctors and tree tea oil and nothing helps. Please help!
