I did a lot of digging and information is very sketchy, but apparently it can lay dormant for many years, and sometimes display symptoms so mild you do not think it is anything.
We were both tested, and as far as I know (not knowing exactly what the doctor told her on the phone) she was negative, but as per the norm she received treatment also.

Sounds like hemorrhoids to me.
I've had them and that was what it was like.
Itching and bleeding, especially with bowel movements.
I had to get minor out patient surgery to remove them.

There is so much information on the internet about chlamydia, it's hard to know what advice/information to believe.
After the usual symptoms, I was tested 3 days ago for chlamydia, put on doxycycline 100mg twice daily for 7 days, and got the test results today.
Positive!
Thankfully I am feeling much better now, but still not at 100%.
