Midwives are allowed in many places, but I believe in some states they are only allowed to attend pregnancies, not birth the babies.

I have no problems with age gaps but even that strikes me as a bit too large. You're 17, he's 41. That's 24 years. I'm in a relationship with a 17 year old age gap and I find that hard enough.

The cervix needs to not only open (dilate) but also soften, for the baby to come out. The softening is called effacement.

I think it would be fine, except once the baby gets crawling as they *will* get in to the cage and might eat the food or droppings or who knows what. As well might get bitten...Even by a generally friendly bun.
