It is always a possibility; this is why you should have an eye test every six months (or as your Dr. Suggests) while you are taking plaquenil.
I've certainly gone to the er to help control the pain. I usually have my joints lock. Although, I do have unexplained bruising some of the time...Did you ever learn anything else about the episode?

I've had lupus since I was a teenager...Diagnosed when I was in my 20s. It's tough having this disease when you are in your prime...Isn't it?
I've been in and out of the hospital since 2000. *sigh* but, on a good note, things have been better this past year.

There are a lot of tests and a lot of criteria that they use to diagnose lupus with...And, unfortunately, it can be a long arduous road, mine was seven years.

I hear you! Ueight gain from prednisone is unbelieva`le!
I hope you have more success than I have had. I am still at 20.
I just hate some issues that won't calm down.
