I suffer from this. I'm on Lansoprazole 15mg/day and have been for 7 years now. Prior to knowing about that drug, I was in almost constant pain for 10 years. (I'm 33 now).
In order to stay pain free, I MUST take the tablet first thing and NOT eat for at least 2hrs. If I eat before 2hrs, the tablet doesn't work and I get pain all day.

I went to the opticians and they suggested it might be because my right eye is about perfect, but I'm short-sighted in the left. The difference between the two is quite unusually large, they said; and that difference might be causing the effect I'm seeing.

For the past week or so, any text that I look at (whether it be printed, on tv, on my computer or my phone) looks to me as if it is in italics. It is ever so slightly slanting to the right. Very odd.
