You have to go for medical treatment. The newer medications like abilify apparently have fewer and less severe side effects. My wife went through the ups and downs you described. The difficult part was when she lost her trust in me in her delusions. Medical treatment of such condition is absolutely necessary. Without it, the condition seems to get worse as time goes by.
