I'm just worried that the chances of the after effects being permanent are greater if it was caused by WNV.

I've seen a lot of information on the prognosis for Viral Meningitis and much of it is good for eventual abatement of symptoms - specifically cognitive dysfunction/fuzzy thinking/memory loss. Some information says it may take weeks or months for the symptoms to go away.
