I am a mother of two boys, ages 13 and 10. My life pretty much revolves around them at this point! I like to run, read, and just enjoy time with my family. I've been married almost 19 years, which is amazing to me. I love Penn State football. Go PSU!!

19 month old drinking excessively
kfkohio / Infants on 12-16-2010 12:17pm
I would definitely take her to the pediatrician to have her urine checked. Is she urinating excessively too? My son was 21 months old when he was diagnosed with diabetes and he was chugging down juice and water like nothing. He would also wake up every morning with his bed soaked, even though we'd changed his diaper right before we went to bed. ... more

Intentional high blood sugar
kfkohio / Diabetes on 04-28-2009 16:32pm
Do you have some insulin? You need to give yourself a shot and keep doing it until your blood sugar comes down. It is VERY dangerous to not take your insulin. We have a local teenager who DIED because he forgot to take his insulin on a weekend trip. You need to either take some isulin or go to the emergency room...or both.

Diabetes transmission ?
kfkohio / Diabetes on 04-26-2009 18:12pm
YOU CANNOT CATCH DIABETES FROM ANYONE!! It is an autoimmune disease where your body attacks itself. Again - you CANNOT catch it! As a mother of a child with diabetes, it annoys me that these false ideas are so common out there - sorry if I sound angry!

Want an echocardiogram
kfkohio / Heart Disease and Heart Attack on 12-22-2008 17:13pm
I would think if you told him that you had additional symptoms this time, that might be enough to convince him to do the echo. An echocardiogram can detect problems that an EKG and stress test cannot. Since your symptoms include signs of a heart attack, I hope your doctor would feel the echo necessary.

Good luck with it.
