My Story
I have 3 kids and after my last baby I decided to get an IUD. After a year of having the IUD, I was constantly cramping and went to see my OB/GYN. I had large cysts on my ovaries and had to have surgery to remove them. A few months after the surgery I started feeling the cramping again and went back to see my doctor and discovered more cysts. My IUD was causing my cysts and I wanted to get it removed. I made the appointment to get it removed and after 10 minutes of digging around and excruciating pain, she scheduled me for a hysteroscopy. A couple days later I went in for the "small procedure with only light sedation" and woke up in so much pain, I was crying for a half hour, until the percocet, demerol and some other pain med kicked in. My doctor never told me about the cramping or heavy bleeding that I was experiencing and I was pissed! I was passing clots the size of 50 cent pieces and one the size of my hand. I went to the ER because I was doubled over in pain, they gave me morphine, that didn't even touch my pain. I normally have a very low tolerance to pain meds, so this kind of scared me. I went to see my doctor yesterday and she said she never expected I would have so many problems and apologized, she said she never thought in a million years that would happen. She told me I basically have a bad uterus, I have never had heavy bleeding but I have always had the worst cramps. My cramps usually make me cry, lay in the fetal position and sometimes I throw up because the pain is so overwhelming. She told me I might need a hysterectomy or I could try one of the endometrial ablation procedures. I am only 26 and I'm very worried.
