I am a Moderator on this site for the GLBT Forum and HIV/AIDS Forum.I am from San Francisco,California. I moved to the country in the South United States to care for a sick mother and step father. My step father died. My mother remarried and moved to Florida. We don't speak at the moment. I am gay and she doesn't like liberal open minded people. She is a bit of a red neck hillbilly type. Very closed minded except when it comes to what she wants. She would rather fores her views on you then listen to your point of view. So we don't get along at all any more. Its sad but thats life I guess. I wish her well. I have been in a relationship with my partner for 15 years. We would get a Civil Union if we could just for the legal benefits. We are a couple and have been for many years so we don't feel a need to have a marriage, thats for straight people, but a Civil Union would be nice. When I was in the hospital for my stroke we could have lost everything if not for our wills. My mother would gladly take everything from my partner if I were to have died. So all you GLBT couples out there, protect your self, your car and home and belongings...get your wills in order so your families cant leave your remaining partner out in the cold with nothing! You never know what tomorrow might bring! Imagine....oh, by the way, I had a stroke after 9/11 so I avoid scary weirdness...my nerves cant take 2 much crazy!!! I wish I was able to move home...back to san francisco but alas,I am here so i have to make the best of it.I can afford it so I cant complain...if only the people were cooler and more liberal and open minded.Here,if you don't drive a pick up and worship Toby Keith and Brooks and Dun...yuck... then you don't count..republicans rule here,the KKK is alive and well and I have my property fenced in and gated so I don't have to worry.For the most part,people are nice to me but I have a feeling that that is just because i pass for straight and "appear" to fit in..if they only knew...=) Anywho, I have a fantastic brother who is a couple of years younger than me. He rocks. Very open minded and giving.He is single now but was married and had 3 kids,who are all great. I have an older brother,we don't talk,no reason,just very different people. My dad and stepmother are nice enough although,like a lot of people,I cant always tell where they are coming from but over all they are good people. My family is typical I guess,some cool folks,some not so cool folks and some out right haters but hay...that's life! I try to stay on the sunny side and look to the stars. Life is short, give me laughter and love and save the bummers for someone else..I want to enjoy my remaining days on this planet...if at all possible i will always try to look at the cup as half fool and not half empty.. Since joining eHealth forums I have met a wonderful and amazing woman named Muthoni aka Mson..she has made my life so much brighter and better in so many ways..she is my BFF now and forever and I love her for everything she is...look her up and you 2 will find out what an amazing human being she is!
