I am a 15 year old male, 110 lbs, 5'9",
and I believe ever since I was 5, I have
been experiencing an acute pain in the
upper right chest area lasting for about
5-10 seconds (hurts more when trying to
move and when breathing). Very
intermittent occurrences though, every
month or so, and for the past several
years, it had gone away almost completely,
maybe once or twice the whole time.
However, just recently (about the past two
weeks or so), I have been getting it a
lot, about once every two or three days,
and just today, three times. It's
surprising that it is showing up now of
all times, especially because I am in what
I believe to be the best shape of my life,
I have just recently started picking up
tennis (about 7 months I believe) and now
exercise a lot. There seems to be no
correlation between the situations during
which it occurs. In the middle of class,
on my way home, eating breakfast, during a
tennis game. It would help if someone
could provide some sort of a diagnosis,
thank you.
Have you ever asked for medical attention
since you started experiencing that chest
pain (in the last 10 years)? I suppose you
made some regular medical examinations
during the school education. Did doctors
find anything?

Oh, well, I believe I was the last time I
was at the doctor's office specifically
for a diagnosis of this pain was about 4
years ago. The doctor didn't find
anything wrong, something must be wrong
though for such a recently chronic and
sharp pain. Is it possible that these
symptoms could be being caused by the
stress of school?
Stress related chest pain Posted: 04-21-08 09:15am
At your age (15) such chest pain is
usually due to psychic stress. Stress can
be due to various school duties but family
and friends may also be the source of
stress.
Anyway, before blaming stress for this
chest pain at least you can do is physical
examination (auscultation) and
ECG-examination at your GP-office in order
to exclude some real (physical) cause for
it.
