Hi, I hope someone can help me, or at least point me in the right direction. For the past few weeks, I have been suffering from severe pain in the upper left side of my stomach, usually five to six hours after eating. The pain often starts in my back but the worse pain is in a localized area, just below my ribcage on the left side. I have taken fiber and antacids and they sometimes seem to have a positive effect. The pain comes and goes from day to day. Sometimes nothing, but sometimes I am in great pain for an hour or two, and I sweat and feel sick. Sometimes I induce vomiting, which seems to have some effect on relieving the pain.
I am leaning towards (and hoping) it's just trapped gas, and I generally do pass wind, soon after the pain eases, but would trapped gas be so painful that it can cause sweats and lethargy and would it be so bad, so often and it does seem to be occurring at the same sort of time after a meal. It starts after about five hours and gets progressively worse and then passes in a few hours, but I feel weak and sick.
I have no changes to my appetite and I am not losing or gaining weight, as far as I can tell. I am slightly overweight and do like my food.
Anyway, thanks in advance for any assistance, and if there are any further questions, please let me know.
